Skincare routine for dry, sensitive and acne-prone skin.

If you are looking for a simple skin care routine and you don't know where to start, look no further, I have for you an easy, simple to follow skin care routine that will clean, moisturize and prepare your skin for a night of rest.

Starting a skin care routine can be so overwhelming especially with the amount of Skin Care products on the market, Celebrity Skin Care Brands, organic and natural products, masks, serums and so forth and so on.

When it comes to skin care, I've had my dark days and struggled with teenage acne, hormonal acne, hyperpigmentation, dryness and dullness. Having a Skin Care is essential to my well being as I shared it with you in this post. So when it comes to skin care, I make sure to pick products that are affordable and get the job done. For that reason, I use simple products, with minimum fragrance and my skin have been good to me.

A simple skin care routine can have long term benefit. One on the left is summer 2020 and the one on right summer 2022.

For the past two years, I have been using Tretinoin to reduce the appearances of fine lines as well as control my occasional acne (see before/pictures). Therefore, my already sensitive skin has turned even more sensitive which means it needs more care and more pampering. For that reason, I have adopted a simple skin care routine that doesn't break me out but gives my skin all it needs.

With this simple skin care routine, I wake up with a healthy, vibrant looking skin in the morning. I just love it. I share with you below step by step.

This my night time skincare routine that has helped me tremendously with my hormonal acne. I follow this routine three times a week when I take a break from retinol.

It’s a great routine if you are in your mid 30’s looking for a simple, manageable and affordable skincare.

Cleansing

To clean my face, I use Panoxyl Face Wash 10% Benzoyl Peroxyde which I always rave about. It contains Benzoyl Peroxide, a powerful antiseptic that combats the bacteria responsible for pimples. I use the 10% PanOxyl which is the highest strength. My skin is used to it now, but I would suggest, if you are new to Skin Care, to start with the 4% PanOxyl to give your skin a chance to get acclimated with the product.

Apply it on wet skin, lather gently and let it sit for 1 min. Rinse. (I also use it in the shower for the occasional acne on my chest and back).

Hydrate

After cleansing with PanOxyl, I gently pat my skin to remove the excess water and I leave it a little humid to apply the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Fragrance Free. This gel contains Hyaluronic Acid which helps retain the skin's moisture and helps reduce the fine lines.

Serum for Under Eyes

I use this serum to target my eye contour area with extra care. I do have dark circles from fatigue and this serum has helped me address this concern. Although it has not removed my dark circles entirely, it has lightened up my under-eye thanks to the high concentration of caffeine.

Moisturize

Now that my skin is nicely cleaned and all the moisture sealed, I apply my all-time favorite Vanicream Moisturizing Cream. This cream is thick and rich without breaking me out and being too greasy. It also can be used for the entire body, and doesn't contain any fragrance.

Spot Treatment

For those sensitive areas such as the eye contour, my lips, and under my nose, I apply the Vanicream Moisturizing Ointment. I am in love with this ointment, especially in the winter, it helps me fight stubborn dryness without being too heavy on my acne-prone skin. In the summer days, it keeps my lips moisturized at all times. It also help with so many other things such as my baby diaper rash or rough patches around the body. It's fantastic.

Bonus Tip: Eyelashes Love

Finally, I finish with  Kate Blanc Cosmetics Organic Castor Oil on my lashes to keep them long, thick, and healthy.
