Lighten, detox and brighten underarms.
Keep your underarm feeling fresh.
Reduce hyperpigmentation!
I don't remember the exact time I noticed my underarms getting dark. I was always too focused on healing the acne on my back that I didn't realized that I neglected my underarms (cough cough) my feet (but that's for another post).
I believe years of shaving in my late teens and twenties caused the undesirable hyperpigmentation. That is around that time that I decided to teach myself how to wax, using the tunisian waxing and method. Although it did help tremendously, they hyperpigmentation was still there and I needed to find ways to improve that part of my skin.
I know I am a modest woman and only me and my family gets to see me without my hijab but I still strive to get clear and smooth skin.
At first, I did what a sensible individual/mom would do and googled for natural remedies. Some say lemon juice and others say turmeric masks. I tried those remedies and after a couple weeks and seeing no results, I gave up. I am not saying that these natural remedies do not work but they might require more commitment that I didn't have at that time. Also turmeric gets messy... But I am open to try this again in the future.
I began searching about the products that I already have at home. I already had a solid routine consisting of cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. I knew the products I used were really efficient in clearing my acne and by extension, acne scars and hyperpigmentation, but can they work on my underarms? My back's hyperpigmentation came from acne scars whilst my underarms was caused by irritation but can the remedy be the same? So I tried it. With commitment.
I was committed because that was what made a difference in my routine to clean my body acne. I've seen the results.
So after a month of use I saw the difference.
And I was pleasantly surprised.
Not only did this routine lightened up and cleared my underarms and made my skin more even but it also made me feel fresh and clean. This caused me to dish the deodorant, only using fewer times. So it's a win on all fronts!

Underarms Hyperpigmentation Routine
#1 Cleanse
Panoxyl
Cleansing is the first step to even skin as it deep clean the skin by exfoliting dead skin. It is my holy grail for acne on all parts of my face and body and helps tremendously in evening skin tone.
#2 Exfoliate (again)
Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid helps with toning skin but also helps brightening it. It removes dead skin by exfoliating it. It should be used carefully as it could be irritating, especially with the use of Panoxyl. Introduce it to the skin care routine gradually twice a week.
#3 Moisturize (and exfoliate again!)
Amlactin
Amlactin is a moisturizer that also contains a exfoliator, namely, lactic acid. It helps with improving skin texture and tone. I use it after the shower to keep my underarms moisturized. It has a funny smell but it does away. I cannot recommend it enough.
BONUS ROUND
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2%
Beware, this stuff is intense. It is the strongest exfoliator that can be done fairly safe at home. It is a red liquid that is applied on clean skin, left for 10 minutes then rinsed. It super strong and it feels like it burns but it deeply exfoliates and clears the skin. I began using it when my skin became accustomed with the rest of the my routine. I only use it twice a week, on its own after using regular soap and a simple moisturizer. Great product to brighten and even the skin tone.
