As a woman of brown/olive skin tones with brown skinned children and husband, it is important to me to make sure the sunscreens that I use are sheer and safe to use. Therefore, I put together a list of sunscreens that are affordable, widely available and efficient.

All the sunscreens mentioned are Chemical Sunscreens which means that they are sheer and do not leave any residue. It also means that they use chemicals that could irritate the skin or even potentially cause an allergic reaction. Please be advised on making sure these chemicals fit your needs.

Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum SPF 60+

If you don't know where to start when it comes to sunscreen, it's a good idea to start with a reputable brand that is being used effectively by millions of people in the world such as Neutrogena.

Neutrogena is undeniably a giant when it comes to skin care and has put in the work and research to create products that deliver.

Neutrogena is the first brand of Chemical Sunscreen I began using when I realized that Mineral Sunscreen were not working for my medium olive complexion.

Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum SPF 60+  has proven to be very effective at keeping the sun rays at bay while still giving me that extra glow. It is a water resistant sunscreen which is extremely helpful when it comes to hot, sweaty day.  Also it's available everywhere (CVS, Target, Amazon) and super affordable.

The cons of this sunscreen is that it burns the eyes (very bad) so make sure to keep it away from that area. Also, the texture of the sunscreen might feel greasy to some users but I have dry skin so I didn't really noticed that.

My biggest complaint that I have is that the sunscreen cannot bear the heat and I found that the sunscreen spoiled on a hot day while I was carrying it in my purse.  I do want to mention that I did leave my purse in the sun so maybe I should have been more careful.

However, great sunscreen for the price.

Black Girl Sunscreen for Kids SPF 50

I have heard many good reviews about this sunscreen on Youtube and other beauty blogs. Quite frankly, I was a little bit hesitant at first because the descriptions mentioned Shea Butter as an ingredient and my facial skin doesn't like that; at all.

However I decided to give it a try hoping the shea butter in it wouldn't cause a breakout (like it usually does.).

I was so pleasantly surprised! This sunscreen exceeded everyone of my expectations.

First, this sunscreen really does it's job as protecting my skin from the sun. It is SPF50 and I haven't had any issues with sun burn or anything like that. It has a rich, thick consistency that gives my dry skin the daily nourishment it needs. My skin feels supple and healthy every-time I apply it. Finally, this sunscreen doesn't sting my eyes. I apply it over my lids and under my eyes and haven't had any issues.

I just can't rave enough about this sunscreen for under $10! It's currently my favorite and a hard one to top!

Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36

I've been wanting to get my hands on some Korean skin care products. I know they are praised in the skin care community and I didn't want to miss on.

I decided to try with Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36 as it has been praised for its efficiency in terms of protection while having a lighter and easily spreadable consistency.

This sunscreen was quickly absorbed by my skin without leaving my skin feeling too greasy. It did a decent job at protecting my skin while keeping it mildly hydrated.

I would say this sunscreen would be wonderful for all skin types, especially normal and oily ones as it hydrates without over bearing the skin.

My only con is that he fragrance could possibly irritate sensitive skin so it's important to keep that in mind.

This sunscreen really did the job and worked great for my dry skin as well as my husband's oily skin.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Sunscreen Spray SPF 50

This Alba Botanica Hawaiian Coconut Sunscreen Spray SPF 50 is the only sunscreen spray that I have ever tried. I purchased it because I needed something easy to apply when I'm out with the kiddos.

When I go out with the children, in parks, at the beach or at the pool, I want to make sure I can spray their moving, playful little bodies without too much fussing.

I picked this spray because I have used Alba Botanica Sunscreens before and absolutely loved it.

This spray feels amazing on the skin, and should I say smell divine. Now, I am not too keen on this fragrance when it comes to skin care but it worked fine for my kids and me, I only need it from my arms and feet (the rest of my body is covered and doesn't need sun protection.)

I definitely recommend this sunscreen spray to keep you protected without slowing you down.
